A New Rhythm for Living Center Residents at Geneva General Hospital
Julie Krebbs, activities supervisor at Living Centers North and South at Geneva General Hospital, is always on the look-out for new and innovative programming for her residents. So when she learned about Lansing Day’s Rhythm Workshop, she was on board.

Day uses hand-drums and non-drum percussion from around the world to energize the living center residents with dementia and other conditions. The program combines spirited music with exercise.

“Lansing’s energy is infectious,” said Krebbs. “The residents sing and drum; he creates a high level of participation from the residents and the staff.”

The Rhythm Workshop program is tailored to meet the specific needs of the group, making the rhythm experience something that is accessible to everyone. The program is being provided monthly in the Living Centers at Geneva thanks to a donation from the Geneva General Hospital Auxiliary. The Auxiliary’s members serve as ambassadors for the health system in our communities.

“We can't thank the Auxiliary enough for bringing this program to us for 2011,” said Krebbs.
