76.4 million adults have been diagnosed with high blood pressure in the United States. High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attack, stroke and heart and kidney failure. “It is vital that everyone in our community knows and understands what their blood pressure is. An abnormal blood pressure reading should not be treated lightly; we provide education about potential health consequences. If someone has an abnormal reading, we strongly recommend that they see their primary care physician and if they do not have physician, we provide them with physician referral information” comments Modera.

Free blood pressure screenings are also held the second Tuesday of each month in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit Dining Room at Geneva General Hospital from 1-3 p.m. The entrance and parking is at the rear of the hospital. For more information call Diana Modera at (315)787-4464. For physician referral information call (315) 787-4060.
