Assistant VP of Nursing Named

Debra DeMott, MS, RN, has joined Finger Lakes Health as the new Assistant Vice President of Nursing.

In the position, DeMott will provide support to Vice President of Nursing Eileen Gage, MA, RN, in the development of the strategic direction for nursing and take a lead role in facilitating nursing’s contribution to the Vision for Finger Lakes Health to be the best organization of its size in the United States. She will be accountable for coaching and mentoring nurse managers and direct reports inspiring the team to sustain a family-centered, interdisciplinary care delivery process that assures exceptional care in a safe environment.

She will oversee the following nursing units and staff across the health system: the medical/surgical and intensive care units at Geneva General and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial hospitals; the clinical leaders at both hospitals; the Emergency Department and Inpatient Behavioral Health at Soldiers & Sailors; and the Family Birth Center and Acute Rehab Unit at Geneva General.

DeMott, of Canandaigua, most recently held the position of Director of Nursing, Long Term Care with Rochester General Health System, Hill Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation facility. Prior to that, she held Director of Nursing positions in both the acute and long term care divisions of Finger Lake Health.
