FLH Names New Long Term Care VP
Finger Lakes Health has announced the appointment of William Garrity as Vice President, Long Term Care. Garrity replaces Howard Kates who has served in the role for 14 years. Kates is retiring March 31.

Garrity has been Administrator of Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, since July 2005 and has more than 20 years of long term care administration experience. Under his leadership, Huntington has undergone several major renovations, including updates to its three-story building, its Special Needs Unit, and main lobby area. In addition, Huntington Living Center has been the recipient of excellent Department of Health surveys and has met goals set for patient satisfaction since establishing My Innerview surveys three years ago.

Most recently, Garrity played an instrumental role in the renovations at Living Center Geneva-South’s Transitional Care Unit.

Kates has served more than 19 years with Finger Lakes Health, initially as Administrator of Huntington Living Center in Waterloo and for the past 14 years as Vice President of Long Term Care. When Garrity began his duties as Vice President of Long Term Care, Kates assumed the responsibility of Administrator of Living Center's North and South in Geneva. He will serve in that role through Jan. 31, 2013, after which he will provide support and assistance for several organizational priorities until his March 31 retirement.

“We thank Howard for his assistance in transitioning his role to his successor,” said Jim Hiserodt, Senior Vice President, Operations for Finger Lakes Health. “Best wishes to him for a well-deserved retirement. We look forward to working with Bill and know he will get all the support needed.”
