Geneva General Hospital Warns of Impending Crisis in Obstetrical Care

Geneva General Hospital has been made aware of a matter of great importance to the communities we serve, and we are reaching out to let people know that all obstetricians practicing at Geneva General Hospital may decide to move their obstetrics practice to Newark-Wayne Hospital. This action has been unofficially communicated to us, and is being considered despite Geneva General Hospital’s substantial offer of short and long term financial support to provide appropriate care and to keep babies being born at Geneva General Hospital.

“For the good of the community, we want the obstetricians from Finger Lakes Medical Associates to deliver babies at Geneva General Hospital instead of leaving town, and we are very disappointed that our offer of significant financial assistance and help recruiting more doctors has not yet been accepted,” said Dominic Fonte, chair of Finger Lakes Health’s (Geneva General Hospital) Board of Directors.
