Donate Life! Help Finger Lakes Health Save Lives
Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network celebrates this April as the 10th annual National Donate Life Month. Originally a weeklong observance, it was officially recognized as a month-long event in 2003. The celebration commemorates those who have received or continue to wait for lifesaving transplants.

Finger Lakes Health can help you give the gift of life. Finger Lakes Health is partnering with Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network to help register new organ donors in the New York State Donate Life Registry as part of reaching the national goal. We are asking our entire hospital community to help save lives by joining with our partner organ donation organization, Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, in educating staff members, patients and their families, visitors, and the extended community outside our doors on the critical need for organ donation and providing opportunities for people to sign up as organ, eye, and tissue donors.

“While increasing the number of registered organ, eye and tissue donors that save and heal lives is part of our daily work,” says local donation and transplantation executive, Rob Kochik “this month serves, not only to honor the lives of those who have given and received, it is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to saving lives.”

There are now 110 million registered donors in the United States, 3,127,934 from the state of New York. Still, the number of people in need of transplants continues to rise. The solution to this problem is to continue educating the public about the lifesaving effects of donation and transplantation and get them to make their decision known by signing up through their state donor registry.
