Geneva General Hospital Emergency Department to Host Public Open House June 15
Finger Lakes Health is honored to invite the community to an open house on June 15 from 12 – 3 p.m. for Geneva General Hospital’s new 17,000 square foot Emergency Department. Attendees will gather near the new ambulance bay for a ribbon cutting ceremony 1 p.m.

Other activities planned for the day include:

· Guided Tours of the Emergency Department

· Mini Health & Science Fair

· Bike Safety Rodeo at 12 p.m.

· Cubby the Bear “Teddy Bear” Clinic

· Give-Aways

· Refreshments including Seneca Farms “Hearpple” Ice Cream

· Mercy Flight Central Fly Over and Aircraft Tour at 1:45 p.m.

This important event celebrates the completion of phase 1 of the Journey to the Best Modernization and Expansion project at Geneva General Hospital. The Emergency Department encompassing 17,000 square feet, more than doubles the size of the current Emergency Department. With the addition of five new observation rooms; two triage rooms; two large, private resuscitation/trauma rooms strategically located adjacent to the new ambulance entrance and directly across from a nurse station; two behavioral health rooms; and a sexual assault victim room, Geneva General Hospital’s Emergency Department is poised to meet the demands of both large-scale and individual emergencies.

“The improved design of the department will provide staff with the space needed to evaluate and care for all emergencies. Our new, larger rooms will allow for state-of-the-art technology, make the patient and family experience a more comfortable one, and assist physicians and nurses in delivering the best care,” states Dr. Virgil W. Smaltz, director of Emergency Services at Finger Lakes Health.
