Finger Lakes Surgery Center Offers Balloon Sinuplasty-Minimally Invasive Procedure
Finger Lakes Health is proud to announce that Dr. Michael DeCicco and Dr. Gregory Carnevale are performing Balloon Sinuplasty, a clinically proven, minimally invasive procedure to safely and effectively treat patients with chronic sinusitis at the Finger Lakes Surgery Center, the regions only free standing ambulatory surgery center.

Sinusitis affects 37 million Americans each year, making it one of the most common health problems. More Americans suffer from sinusitis than diabetes, asthma or coronary heart disease. Until recently, sinusitis patients had limited treatment options. Typical treatment for chronic sinusitis begins with medication, but it is not effective for up to 60% of sinus sufferers. When medical therapy fails, surgery is often recommended, but historically involved painful cutting and removal of bone and tissue to enlarge the sinus opening, and while effective, may lead to post operative pain, bleeding and scarring. Full recovery can take a week or more for patients.

Balloon Sinuplasty uses a small, flexible balloon catheter to open inflamed sinuses. The balloon catheter is placed into the nose to reach the inflamed sinuses, and gradually inflated to restructure the previously blocked sinus passage. Recovery time is quick with the procedure and patients experience durable relief from sinus symptoms as well as improved quality of life.

If you suffer from sinusitis, and medication alone has not been effective in relieving your symptoms, you may be a candidate for Balloon Sinuplasty. Please call Dr. Gregory Carnevale (315) 789-2153 or Dr. Michael DeCicco (315) 787-5353 to schedule your appointment today.
