Finger Lakes Health Hosts Employee Breast Cancer Awareness Events
Finger Lakes Health hosted two employee Breast Cancer Awareness events for its employees as well as employees of FLH Medical, P.C. The first one was held on October 8 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department and the second one on October 16 at Geneva General Hospital’s Women’s Health Services,

Employees were able to tour the facilities, meet the staff and radiologists, learn about the importance of getting an annual mammogram and as well as schedule their mammogram if they were age 40 or older. Educational displays were provided at each event as well as give-aways and refreshments.

“Staff were very excited and proud to have the opportunity to educate their fellow colleagues about the importance of getting an annual mammogram ; especially since one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime “ commented Jeff Fultz, director of diagnostics. Male staff members were also encouraged to attend the educational events because even through breast cancer is men is rare, an estimated 2,150 men will be diagnosed will breast cancer and approximately 410 will die each year. “By providing these educational events, we hope to educate our fellow employees and friends about the importance of getting their annual mammogram” stated Fultz.
