S&S Auxiliary Donates Equipment to Dundee Center
The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital (SSMH) Auxiliary provides support to the Penn Yan hospital and its affiliates through gifts of time and money. The Auxiliary recently donated $3,300 to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation to support the Soldiers & Sailors Annual Fund. The annual campaign funding priority is access to health care in Yates County.

The Auxiliary’s gifts purchased a BP/Temp/O2 unit on wheels for use at the Dundee Family Health Center. The mobile unit provides practitioners at the Center with the tools to check blood pressures, temperatures and oxygen levels of patients, all from one piece of equipment.

“The new unit can be easily moved from one exam room to another, allowing staff to more efficiently assist patients and to reduce waiting times, “ explained Jawan Betts, office coordinator at Dundee Family Health Center.

The SSMH Auxiliary conducts multiple fund raisers each year to support projects like the one at Dundee. It is especially grateful to several Dundee area residents who help with the annual Tag Day fund raiser in June. The residents, while not official members of the SSMH Auxiliary, support their community hospital by helping with the project each year.

“We wanted to support a project at Dundee Family Health Center as a tangible way for those volunteers in Dundee to see how their efforts help maintain state-of-the-art equipment right in their own community,” said Sylvia Eisenhart, president of the SSMH Auxiliary.
