GGH Opening Celebration Slated
Finger Lakes Health is honored to invite the community to an Opening Celebration and Winter Family Festival on January 11, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for Geneva General Hospital’s “Journey to the Best” modernization/expansion project. Attendees will gather near the hospital’s main entrance off North Street for a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon.
Other activities planned for the day include:
• Guided tours of the new Surgical Services Department
• Guided tours of the 3North surgical patient unit
• Musical entertainment provided by the West Street School Hand Chime All-Stars and St. Peter’s Senior Community Choir
• Horse-Drawn wagon rides around the GGH campus
• Finger Lakes Skateboard Club Snowboarding or Skateboarding demonstrations, depending on weather
• Dog mushing demonstrations by the 2013 Junior Iditarod Champion
• Giveaways
• “Happy Feet” movie, sponsored by Finger Lakes Health, at The Smith Center for the Arts, 82 Seneca Street, Geneva at 3 p.m. on January 11
• Free ice skating, sponsored by Finger Lakes Health, at the Geneva Recreation Complex, Exchange Street, Geneva, 1-3:30 p.m., Sunday, January 12
• Refreshments including Whisper Chocolate, Red Jacket cider and apples, Muranda Cheese, Finger Lakes Farms yogurt, Bagels & Cakes cookies, hot chocolate and more
This important event celebrates the completion of Phase 2 of the “Journey to the Best” modernization and expansion project at Geneva General Hospital. The new Intensive Care Unit, featuring 14 rooms, opened December 10. The new Surgical Services Department, which will be part of the January 11 tours, will open in mid-January. The 20-bed unit for surgical patients, 3 North, will open in February. Tours of that area will be included in the January 11 festivities as well.
