Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing Surgical Technology Program Receives Second Accreditation
Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing Surgical Technology Program recently was accredited by the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) with the achievement of CAAHEP Initial Accreditation for the Surgical Technology program. This is the second program accreditation for the surgical technology program, a true mark of educational excellence.

The accreditation process was three fold. The first step involved Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing to complete a 200 page self-study to critically review the program and resources involved to ensure educational excellence was being achieved. The second step required an on-site visit by a team of two CAAHEP experts campus in June 2015. The CAAHEP team spent three days reviewing documentation, curriculum, resources as well as visiting and interviewing students, staff, and faculty. Finally a final review panel was conducted in January 2016 and accreditation was granted.

"I am proud that with hard work and support of the organization, and true to the tradition of educational excellence at Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Geneva General Hospital, the surgical technology program met all standards during its accreditation review in its first year of operation. The surgical technology program received a maximum award of 4 year program accreditation. Both students and clinical agencies have expressed extreme satisfaction with the program. I am confident this program will continue to grow and meet the needs of the community” stated Vicki Record, EdD, RN, CNE and Dean of Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing.

Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing, in partnership with Geneva General Hospital, offers a full time program that is flexible and conducive to the adult learner seeking a career as a surgical technologist.
