FLH Honors Employee Service

Finger Lakes Health held its annual Employee Recognition Dinner on May 7, 2012, honoring over 150 employees for their service to the community.

The recognition honored 22 employees who have retired in the last 12 months. The Morton Orlov, M.D. Education Award was also presented to 13 employees who have finished a degree program through the various educational tuition assistance programs offered at Finger Lakes Health.

Two special awards were presented to employees who exceed in the workplace: the newly-named James J. Dooley Leadership Excellence Award and the Employee of the Year. The James J. Dooley Leadership Excellence Award recognizes outstanding performance by a leader who is a member of the management staff. Kathy Brown-Ryrko was the recipient for 2011. Brown-Ryrko, director at the Geneva General Child Care Center, was recognized for her exceptional leadership, expertise, and commitment to providing high-quality service and care to families of Finger Lakes Health employees and members of the community we serve. The Geneva General Child Care Center is one of the few nationally-accredited child care facilities in our area. This is the fifth year the Leadership Excellence Award has been presented.

The Employee of the Year for 2011 was unveiled at the end of the evening, honoring Joan DeBois for her service at Finger Lakes Health. DeBois, OR assistant at the Finger Lakes Surgery Center celebrated 15 years of service with Finger Lakes Health and was recognized for her exceptional service to patients, families, physicians, and colleagues.

This is the tenth year the coveted Employee of the Year award has been presented, part of the Distinguished Values Award Program at Finger Lakes Health. Each quarter, employees from each site at Finger Lakes Health (Geneva, Waterloo, and Penn Yan) are recognized. The Employee of the Year is chosen from these outstanding individuals. The program recognizes those employees who consistently demonstrate organizational values and whose performance clearly exceeds the requirements of their positions.

Both award recipients received an engraved recognition plaque, their portrait on the Distinguished Values Wall of Fame, a cash award and dinner certificate, and a reserved parking space for one year.
