Community Services

The Community Services department at Finger Lakes Health has offices in Geneva and in Penn Yan.  As the name implies, Community Services is involved with many programs that provide outreach to our communities, such as the following:

  • community health education
  • screenings and health fairs
  • responsibility for marketing
  • strategic planning support
  • community benefit reporting
  • patient satisfaction survey coordination
  • internal and external publications
  • website management
  • coordination of volunteers
  • liaison with facility auxiliaries
  • graphic standards
  • physician referral service
  • health career exploration
  • student internships oversight

The community lecture series, "Dine & Discuss", is held each spring and fall, providing educational opportunities to learn about important healthcare topics.  Health care professionals, including physicians, share their expertise and experience with a chance for the audience to ask questions.  Programs are held in local restaurants for a nominal charge and include a full buffet dinner.  Attendees are surveyed at each session to gain their input about the program and their ideas for future programs.  For current listings of "Dine and Discuss" lectures, see the Calendar of Events tab on this website.

It is the policy of Finger Lakes Health to enhance access to healthcare providers as well as health information for residents of and visitors to the health system's service area.  By calling the Physician Referral Service at 315-787-4060, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, referrals can be made to appropriate physicians with medical staff privileges at Geneva General Hospital.  Call 315-531-2053 for referrals based on patient criteria to physicians with staff privileges at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.  The Physician Referral Service is a free community service with no charge to the customer or the participating practitioner.  All referrals are made based on patient need and preference.
