Finger Lakes Health Auxiliaries Receive HANYS Advocacy Award
The Healthcare Association of New York State – HANYS – has announced that all three of Finger Lakes Health’s Auxiliaries – the Geneva General Hospital Auxiliary, the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Taylor-Brown Auxiliary, have been awarded the Auxiliary Advocacy Award for their achievements during 2011.

The HANYS Advocacy Award recognizes auxiliaries that have committed significant time and effort serving as advocates for their health-care facilities and communities during the past year. To qualify, auxiliaries must meet specific criteria, including fundraising activities for their sponsoring facility, providing services such as the gift shops, participation in healthcare advocacy activities and developing partnerships with community agencies. Finger Lakes Health Auxiliary members and volunteers serve as ambassadors for the health system in our communities.

In 2011, the auxiliaries contributed over $21,000 to fund requests from Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, along with the organization’s Living Centers in Geneva, Penn Yan, and Waterloo. Combined, the Auxiliary members and Finger Lakes Health volunteers gave nearly 19,000 hours of their time to the organization in 2011.

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to anyone in the community interested in supporting Finger Lakes Health. For more information call (315) 787-4065, or visit our website at and type “auxiliary” in the search box.
