Maureen Loyal, DPT was recently honored at the 2019 Healthcare Achievement Awards by the Rochester Business Journal during a luncheon March 22 at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.

Loyal, Director of Rehabilitation Services at Finger Lakes Health, was honored in the category of “Management”. This award recognizes an individual who serves in a management role in a health care institution who has made measurable positive contributions to his or her organization.

Loyal joined Finger Lakes Health in 2015 and immediately began making significant and measurable contributions to the organization and community including:

  • adding outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy in Waterloo;
  • increasing access to care by offering evening hours;
  • added Pelvic Floor Therapy as a new service;
  • collaborated with local colleges, Hobart & William Smith and Keuka College to provide physical therapy on campus for student athletes;
  • developed new community outreach programs including mobility screenings to identify risk factors for adults over 65 and community exercise programs that teach safe and effective ways to exercise using equipment in a gym or home setting;
  • securing a grant in Yates County for "Get Up and Get Moving", a community-based exercise program made possible by the Rochester Area Community Foundation and Yates Community Endowment.

Loyal earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from William Smith College in Geneva, NY. She earned her Master of Physical Therapy in 1997 and Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2007 both from SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY.
