(Geneva, NY) Two area graduating high school seniors are receiving scholarships from Finger Lakes Health organizations to support their post-high school studies in healthcare-related fields.

The Finger Lakes Health Foundation awarded Dundee High School student Bryannah Crane the 2026 Ruth Soules Memorial Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement, participation in community activities and recommendation from a teacher. The $1000 scholarship will help cover Bryannah’s educational expenses at Keuka College where she intends to pursue a degree in occupational therapy.

Ruth E. Soules was a graduate of Dundee Central High School who went on to earn her LPN degree from the Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing. She dedicated more than 35 years of service to nursing at Schuyler Hospital. The scholarship was established through the Finger Lakes Health Foundation by Ruth’s daughters, Mary Beth Peth and Candace Chrichton, to honor her legacy and support future healthcare professionals. Through the continued support of the family, the scholarship carries that legacy forward by helping students pursue careers in healthcare.

Mynderse Academy graduate and 2026 class valedictorian Isaac Jang of Seneca Falls earned the $1000 Geneva General Hospital Auxiliary’s New Vision Award, presented to the student enrolled in Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES’ New Vision Medical Careers program based at Geneva General Hospital with the highest number of mentor evaluations. Mentor evaluations encompass assessments from a variety of practitioners including physicians, therapists, nurses, administrators, aides, and extenders. New Vision Instructor, Laura Van Niel, presented him with the award and certificate at the Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center’s graduation ceremony on June 16. Isaac will attend University of Southern California for Health & Human Sciences on a pre-medicine track.
