(Geneva, NY) The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) will provide $855,520 over three years to support UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health’s efforts to replace aging HVAC infrastructure at Geneva General Hospital and, as a result, lower the facility’s energy use and costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit its carbon footprint.

The funding was awarded through NYSERDA’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Carbon Challenge: Hospitals program’s competitive grant process.

“Caretaking is at the center of all we do and includes being good stewards of our planet. Finger Lakes Health has been dedicated to ‘going green’ for decades as part of its mission to promote the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” says Finger Lakes Health Chief Operating Officer Lara Chatel Turbide, citing previous projects including the installation of “living roofs,” energy efficient windows and LEED lighting. “We are grateful to NYSERDA for their partnership and support, and to the Finger Lakes Health Facilities and Foundation teams for their efforts in making these much needed, vital upgrades of the heating and ventilation systems at Geneva General Hospital as energy efficient and sustainable as possible.”
