GENEVA — Finger Lakes Health continues to expand access to high-quality, community-based care in Geneva with the addition of two new family medicine physicians, Kavena Sivakumar, MD, and Shawn Kurian, DO, to Finger Lakes Health Primary Care.
The physicians join a growing team of providers serving patients at the Finger Lakes Health Primary Care practice located in the Medical Office Building adjacent to Geneva General Hospital.
Dr. Sivakumar is board-certified in Family Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in St. George, Grenada.
Dr. Kurian completed his Family Medicine Residency at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York, and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The addition of Drs. Sivakumar and Kurian represents the latest step in Finger Lakes Health’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to primary care in Geneva and throughout the region.
Finger Lakes Health first expanded primary care services in Geneva in 2025 with the opening of Finger Lakes Health Primary Care, bringing additional access to adult primary care, same-day appointments, telemedicine and MyChart. In May 2026, the practice moved into a larger space in Suite 201A to accommodate its growing team and patient needs. The practice now includes internal medicine and family physicians, pediatricians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, including longtime Geneva physicians Arthur Equinozzi, MD, and William Platzer, MD.
Finger Lakes Health has also continued to broaden services available to Geneva-area families, including the recent expansion of pediatric care at Finger Lakes Health Primary Care. The health system is further strengthening access across the region through the addition of providers and new primary care locations, including the recently opened Lyons Family Health Center.
“Our continued investment in Geneva reflects our commitment to making high-quality care more accessible and convenient for the communities we serve,” said Andre Forcier, MHA, RT, Assistant Vice President, Physician Network. “By bringing additional physicians and services to the area, patients have more opportunities to establish a trusted relationship with a primary care provider close to home, while also benefiting from the resources and specialty care available through Finger Lakes Health and University of Rochester Medicine.”
Finger Lakes Health Primary Care is located at 200 North Street, Suite 201A, Geneva, and is accepting new patients. The practice is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and offers same-day and telemedicine appointments. Patients can schedule an appointment by calling (315) 787-5445.
Finger Lakes Health, a proud affiliate of University of Rochester Medicine, provides primary care services throughout Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates counties, with a growing network of family and internal medicine practices.
