GENEVA- UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health proudly announces that Geneva General Hospital has earned national recognition for clinical quality, including a #1 national ranking for hypoglycemia care. 

Geneva General Hospital is also ranked #1 in the nation at quickly diagnosing stroke patients through imaging, reading CT scans in under 45 minutes.  The hospital is a Joint Commission–accredited Primary Stroke Center and a New York State–designated Stroke Center.

Geneva General Hospital remains below both national and New York State benchmarks for healthcare-associated infections, reporting zero central line bloodstream infections, surgical site colon infections, or C-Diff Intestinal infections during a recent one-year period.

For the second consecutive year, Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital were also recognized with multiple American Heart Association awards for their commitment to evidence-based care for patients experiencing heart attack and stroke, further demonstrating their focus on improving outcomes and advancing health equity in rural communities.

Both hospitals have once again achieved the fastest Emergency Department (ED) throughput times in the Finger Lakes region.

According to data compiled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its 2024 ranking of all 143 New York State Emergency Departments, SSMH and GGH ranked first and second, respectively, based on median time from patient arrival to discharge in the Finger Lakes region The data reflect performance from January through December 2024 and were reported in November 2025.

Within the Western New York–Rochester region, Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital ranked first among hospitals with fewer than 40 beds, while Geneva General Hospital secured the top position among hospitals with more than 40 beds.
