(WATERLOO, NY) — A special gift made this year’s Festival of Stars annual holiday tree-lighting celebration at FingerBill Nicole Lakes Health’s Huntington Living Center in Waterloo even more festive. The Taylor Brown Auxiliary presented a $18,000 donation to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation to support the remodel and expansion of the facility’s courtyard.

“Taylor Brown Auxiliary’s gift goes a long way in helping to pay for the new courtyard, something Huntington’s residents will be able to enjoy for years to come,” says Foundation Executive Director Kim Ilacqua. “Our thanks to all the Auxiliary volunteers for hosting the golf tournament, selling drawing tickets, baking for the bake sales and all their hard work in making this donation possible.”

The donation is part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing and decades-long effort to enhance the lives of Huntington’s residents by raising funds for recreational activities, field trips and entertainment, and facility improvements. They also help decorate the facility for each season, ending the year with sales of commemorative stars that decorate the holiday tree in the lobby.

Also at the Festival of Stars on December 3, Finger Lakes Health leadership honored Linda Quackenbush for her 30-plus years of service to the Auxiliary, both as president of the organization and dedicated volunteer. Quackenbush is stepping down from her role as Auxiliary president.

“It is hard to overestimate how much Linda has done over the years to help us make Huntington a warm and welcoming place for our residents and their families,” said Bill Garrity, Finger Lakes Health’s Vice President of Long-Term Care, “We are grateful for Linda’s heartfelt commitment to the resident’s wellbeing and for her consistent support.”
