UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health Honors Employees for Years of Service, Announces Employee Awards
May 15, 2025
Geneva-UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health recognized its employees for their decades of service to the community and thanked them for their contributions and dedication to the continued success of the health system during its annual Employee Recognition Dinner, held May 13 at Club 86 in Geneva.
A special recognition was given to 22 employees, with more than 506 years of service, who retired in the last year. Eight employees received the Morton Orlov, M.D. Education Award for completing a degree program within the past 12 months. This award is in recognition of personal commitment to education through use of the health system’s Education Assistance Programs.
Members of the Administrative Team presented milestone years of service awards to employees who have completed 5 to 50 years of service with Finger Lakes Health.
Two special awards were presented to employees who consistently exceeded the requirements of their jobs in the workplace: the James J. Dooley Leadership Excellence Award and the Employee of the Year.
The James J. Dooley Leadership Excellence Award recognizes outstanding performance by a leader who is committed to Finger Lakes Health’s mission, values and the healing environment, as well as the leader’s overall job performance and leadership skills. This year, Andre Forcier, Assistant VP, Physician Network, was honored as the 16th recipient of this celebrated award. He has been employed with Finger Lakes Health for nine and a half years.
Forcier effectively translates Finger Lakes Health’s vision and strategy into high performance. He exemplifies best practices, sets the standard for excellence, and actively coaches and mentors high-potential leaders.
He fosters a culture of open, honest communication and responsiveness. In every interaction, he consistently asks whether anything is needed or if additional tools or support are required for success. Under his leadership, there has been a noticeable increase in team pride and mutual support.
The Employee of the Year Award recognizes an employee who sets the standard for excellence. This year’s award was presented to Sara Thompson, Secretary, Emergency Department, Geneva General Hospital. She has been with Finger Lakes Health for 15 years.
Thompson serves as a role model through her calmness and patience in the midst of complete chaos. In the words of a co-worker, “The vital role Sara plays may not be understated, and I know that when she is present, everything will be handled.”
Thompson was selected from a field of 12 outstanding Employees of the Quarter who were recognized each quarter in 2024. The program recognizes those employees who consistently demonstrate organizational values and whose performance clearly exceeds the requirements of their positions.
