URochester Medicine - Finger Lakes Health Honors Madison Glass, RN with The DAISY Award
April 22, 2026
GENEVA – Madison Glass, RN, a nurse at University of Rochester Medicine Finger Lakes Health, was honored by the health system with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®. Madison is currently working in the Geneva General Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
A grateful patient shared the following about Madison’s care in Geneva General Hospital:
“My wife was a patient in ICU for a week and a half. In that time Madison was there to help my wife in every way to keep her comfortable. Whenever my wife pushed the button, she always knew that her favorite nurse would come running and do whatever she could. Before my wife passed away, Madison came in and told her that she had grown very fond of her and she would miss her. Madison took the time to come in and say goodbye to her before she started a different rotation. All the nurses on ICU were amazing and should be commended, but this nurse went above and beyond to take care of my wife in her final days. This is why I feel that Madison Hein should get the DAISY Award for her compassion and dedication to her patients. She has a heart of gold and needs to be recognized for it.”
Finger Lakes Health is proud to recognize Madison Glass with The DAISY Award.
Established by The DAISY Foundation, a not-for-profit organization founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his family, this award recognizes nurses who have a profound impact on the lives of their patients and families. Patrick died at age 33 in 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon autoimmune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.) The exceptional care Patrick received from the nurses at his bedside inspired the creation of this award.
If you have received extraordinary care from a nurse, or if you are a family member of someone who has experienced great care, and would like to nominate them, please visit: www.daisyfoundation.org/contact-us.
Nomination boxes are also located throughout Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital. Nurses throughout Finger Lakes Health will be recognized throughout the year at celebrations attended by their colleagues, patients, and visitors.
Each honoree receives a certificate commending them as an "Extraordinary Nurse." The certificate reads: "In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people." Honorees also receive a DAISY Award pin and a beautiful and meaningful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
