Charles McKay Dr. Collins Patient

A life-saving accident…

When Charles McKay had a motorcycle accident, he never thought it would end up saving his life.

While Charles was out of work recovering, he made an appointment with Dr. Craig Collins, board-certified general and colorectal surgeon, regarding a hernia. During his examination with Dr. Collins, Charles mentioned that he had been having some rectal bleeding. Dr. Collins recommended that he get a colonoscopy due to Charles’ family history of colon cancer.

The colonoscopy revealed a large, malignant polyp. Dr. Collins explained everything in detail to Charles regarding the polyp and need for surgery. “Dr. Collins was very reassuring and explained everything in detail,” stated Charles.

Dr. Collins performed a colectomy, removing a portion of Charles’ colon as well as the polyp. After the surgery, Charles spent five days at Geneva General Hospital, where he was grateful for the care he received.

When Charles had to schedule his follow-up appointments with Dr. Collins, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Dr. Collins would personally return phone calls. “He was fantastic; I have nothing but respect for Dr. Collins. He made me feel like a person and put me at ease. He is an awesome doctor and I would definitely recommend him as well as Geneva General Hospital,” commented Charles.

If it were not for Charles coming to see Dr. Collins for his hernia, the polyp may not have been detected until it was too late.
