The Yates County Tuberculosis and Health Association has awarded $1,500 to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation to support the purchase of a DYNAMAP blood pressure monitor for use in the Emergency Department at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital (SSMH), Penn Yan.
The DYNAMAP monitor is one of the most frequently used pieces of equipment in the Emergency Department. The unit has a high standard of accuracy for measuring blood pressure, including systolic, diastolic, mean arterial pressure and pulse rate. The monitor stores the data for 24 hours.
“As the healthcare industry evolves, costs of acquiring and maintaining equipment continues to rise along with costs to deliver care, while reimbursement for our services does not keep pace. As we see rising costs exceeding the revenues we can generate, especially in more rural communities and in smaller hospital environments, we are especially thankful to have community organizations and funding sources such as the Yates County TB & Health Association. The resources you have provided are critical to us. We are so very grateful to you for being a vital source of support this year and in past years,” said Lara Turbide, Vice President, Community Services and Executive Director, Finger Lakes Health Foundation. “Thank you for your ongoing support to ensure that people in our rural communities have access to the highest level of care and for contributing to the health of Yates County.”
