Finger Lakes Health is proud to announce that Joseph Carr BS, ATC, has recently joined the health system as a Certified Athletic Trainer who will be at local school sporting events in Dundee.
Finger Lakes Health is dedicated to providing a continuum of care to its young athletes through its network of physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists and dedicated athletic trainers.
Maureen Loyal, DPT, Director of Rehabilitation Services, states “We are honored to be able to have Joe care for students in the Dundee community. He will be providing a valuable service that helps protect our student athletes during sporting activities, rehabilitate them after an injury to quicken their return to play and educate student athletes on injury prevention and sports performance techniques.”
In addition to treating students in the athletic training room and attending team practices, he will attend games to monitor for injuries and work with athletes who may be unable to fully participate with the rest of their team due to injury.
Carr received his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Indiana Wesleyan University located in Marion, IN.
He is certified by the Board of Certification in Athletic Training and holds certifications from the American Heart Association in BLS, CPR, AED and First Aid.
Carr belongs to the National Athletic Trainers Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and Safe Sport School Award Recipient 1st Team.
Previously, he worked as an Outreach Athletic Trainer at Excelsior Orthopaedics in Buffalo, NY.
Carr lives with his wife and son in Dundee and enjoys hiking and fishing.
